Share your LOVE: Vote for the 2019 LOVE Awards and Join the Celebration!

Voting closes February 8!

Raising city kids is the ultimate adventure, and it is so rewarding to help readers take advantage of all Philly has to offer, from events to great resources that help make our jobs as parents a little easier. Our brand started with a desire for connection, and we are so grateful that thousands of you in our community group continue to share your lives, struggles, celebrations, and advice with us.

Community is what sets us apart, and so when we honor local businesses and individuals every year for our LOVE Awards, we do things a little differently. Above all else, we award those who forge those deeper connections. That way, when you see that blue badge around town, you know it means something. We value quality over quantity and ask you, our community, to call the shots and tell us who has gone above and beyond.

Whether it’s the best place to host a toddler birthday party or the best place to drink with your kids (yes, that was a LOVE Award category last year), we love to hear what matters to you, and honor those who excel in those areas. Of course, as members of the community ourselves, it also warms our hearts to hear endorsements by and for our neighbors. That is why when you vote for the LOVE Awards, we ask for a thoughtful statement—and get answers like this, for Philadelphia Dance Academy:

The dedication and commitment that these dance teachers have in regards to their students is incredible. Not only are they gifted instructors, but valued friends and role models. Their students absolutely LOVE them!

Or this, for Nest:

Nest’s salon truly deserves special mention. I have seen Mariah work her magic on countless kids who won’t even let their parents brush their hair, let alone wash, cut, and style it. All with a lollipop, a favorite TV show or book, and lots of smiles. My daughter has sensory issues and she actually asks to get her hair cut (even when she doesn’t need it).

These are the types of answers that defy simple vote counting (or ballot box stuffing, for that matter), and why the LOVE Awards are so special to us.

To be able to honor and celebrate the people who make our city and our kids thrive is such a privilege. We encourage you to vote and support those businesses and individuals who have made a difference—large or small—in our community, and help honor them at our annual LOVE Awards celebration this May. Voting ends on February 8, so don’t miss out!

In addition to nominating businesses for the awards, we also added Parents of the Year last year, to honor those very special individuals who exemplify the village and community spirit we work to celebrate. Do you have a family member or friend who truly goes above and beyond for their family? Have they had a major professional accomplishment while raising a family? Are they active in the community? Do you know a parent who has overcome a significant personal challenge? If so, let us know and nominate them for Parents of the Year!

We also use the LOVE Awards as a way to give back to our communities. Every year, the LOVE Awards celebration includes fabulous raffle items generously donated by our partners. When you vote for the LOVE Awards, we are asking you to nominate a nonprofit to be the beneficiary of the funds raised at the event raffle at the bottom of the form.

As the name suggests, the LOVE Awards are really just about that—love for our neighbors, our community, and our work. We are so lucky that those three intersect so beautifully for our team, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you on May 2 at World Café Live. Be on the lookout for ticket sales to begin, and please plan to join us!
