All Week

In-Person: Smith Memorial Playground Re-Opens!

June 16, 10 am (Tuesdays through Sundays)

 

Smith will re-open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays 10 am-4 pm. Open areas include the nature playground, Giant Wooden Slide, and more! Note: the Tot Lot will not yet be open. Smith has painted its front lawn with the social distancing circles for outside relaxation. On select days starting on June 18, you can register to participate in Play Breaks with themed programming. All visitors will have their temperatures taken and will be required to sign a waiver before entering the Playground. Masks are required at all times. Smith will allow 100 people maximum on the Playground at one time. If the Playground is currently at capacity, families will have the option to put their names on a waitlist.


Snapology’s Online STEAM Lab

Monday-Friday, 9 am-noon

 

Students ages 4-14 will actively experiment with the principles of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. All programs and activities are hands-on with guided instruction from an experienced Snapologist.  Register for the whole week online (link in title) or by the day.

Music Theatre Philly Virtual Camp: Lin-Manuel Miranda Week

Monday-Friday, 9:30–11:15 am

 

This session will explore some of the most famous songs from Moana, In the Heights, and Hamilton with choreography based on each show and film. For ages 4-9. Pre-register online.

Snapology Online Camp: Ninja Week

Monday-Friday, 1-4 pm

 

Design a new dojo for Snapology made from LEGO bricks and train your men to battle with the best. Go through ninja training and earn your black belt, Snapology-style. For ages 4-14. Pre-register online for the whole week, or for individual days.

Snapology Online: Pokemon

Monday-Friday, 2-3 pm

 

Students will build and explore the world of Pokemon as they create their own gyms, battles, and even their very own generation of Pokemon. Children will also learn about real-world science as they learn about the habitats of the Pokemon. For ages 4-14. Pre-register online for the whole week, or for individual days.

Philly Zoo at 2

Weekdays at 2 pm

 

Explore the zoo, go behind the scenes, talk with experts, and meet some of the zoo’s most amazing creatures every day on Facebook. They’re even gearing up to introduce new babies that haven’t been introduced yet to the public as the series goes on!

The Rock and Roll Playhouse: Live From The Playroom

Celebrate freedom all day with the Museum of the American Revolution. Tune into the Museum’s Facebook for a performance of the one-woman show “Freedom on the Horizon” with historical interpreter Nastassia Parker as she portrays Ona Judge, an enslaved woman who ran away from the Washington household in Philadelphia. The performance will be followed by an Instagram Live question-and-answer session with Parker and Tyler Putman, the Museum’s Manager of Gallery Interpretation. Discover the story of Harry Washington, who was originally enslaved by George Washington and found freedom through service in the British Army, with a Virtual Discovery Cart on the Museum’s Facebook and Instagram. The Museum’s free, weekly mini-lesson plan will explore Dunmore’s Proclamation, a document signed in 1775, which promised freedom for enslaved people who left their owners and joined the British Army.

Barnes Foundation Art Installation: ‘From the Root to the Fruit: Portraits of Black Fathers and Their Children’

In honor of Father’s Day, the Barnes is partnering with We Embrace Fatherhood, a coalition of West Philadelphia fathers, activists, and artists; the Mantua Civic Association; and PC Radio Live to present this free outdoor installation projected onto the Barnes Foundation’s exterior walls at 20th and the Parkway.
