Joyful Start's owner Kelly Kolb supports new and expecting parents with education in childbirth, newborn care, and breastfeeding as well as daytime postpartum doula and lactation support in their homes. She teaches the Spinning Babies® Parent Class, which prepares expecting parents with an approach to find comfort in pregnancy and ease in birth. She helps the whole family feel supported, calm, and comfortable throughout the adjustment time of having a new baby in the home. She has served families throughout Southeastern PA since 2015.

2022 Philly Family Community Family Favorite Doula

I chose Joyful Start as my doula and education base for my second child. I was young when I had my first child and wanted things to be done differently this time around. My doula, Kelly Kolb, is and was hands down amazing. She made herself available whenever I had questions no matter how big or small. She met with my husband and I a few times before birth to help us create our birth plan and show stretches that really made a difference when it came time for baby and for overall body and sleep quality. Birth did not go as planned but I know I would not have been able to do it without Kelly by my side. She was an excellent advocate. My husband was at work while I was in labor so she actually cut the umbilical cord and is now forever family! She responds quickly on their Facebook page. Kelly also keeps the communication flowing via Facebook by posting different topics that connect moms and help educate us, while providing a sense of community (which was especially necessary during the peak of Covid). Joyful Start also offers a plethora of online child birth education classes and postpartum services. Lastly, Kelly has a well connected network if you are in need of other services. She is always studying and preparing for her next cert to expand upon the services she can offer. If I ever have another child, it won't be without Joyful Start by my side.
