MLK Day of Service with Fairmount Park Conservancy

Join Fairmount Park Conservancy for a meaningful and family-friendly day of service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of civic engagement and community care.
This hands-on volunteer day is designed to foster community pride while making a long-lasting impact on the environment. Participants will be provided with all necessary tools and materials, including gloves, to ensure a safe and productive workday. This year’s event will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, 10 am – 12 pm along Wynnefield Avenue & North Georges Hill Drive in West Fairmount Park.

Volunteers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in activities that include removing invasive plant species, trail maintenance, trash clean-up, and restoring the sidewalk paths in the park. Whether you are an individual, family, or group, this event is a wonderful opportunity to come together and contribute to the beautification and preservation of one of Philadelphia’s cherished parks.
Know Before You Go:
Wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty. Long pants and long sleeves are recommended, and closed-toe shoes such as boots or sneakers are required. Gloves will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own. Bug spray, sunblock, hand sanitizer, and wipes will be available on-site. Be sure to bring a reusable water bottle, as refills and snacks will be provided. In the event of severe weather, the event will be canceled, and attendees will be notified.
