Strawberry DNA Extraction Biology Workshop (for girls in grades 4-6)

November 7 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

In November’s biology workshop Girl STEMpowerment at Penn will be introducing the wonderful world of genome science and exploring the structure of genetic material. You’ll be seeing genes up close with a hands-on activity where you will extract DNA from strawberries! Registration is free and all supplies will be provided by the organization.

For girls in grades 4-6. Their non-profit hosts interactive STEM-related workshops for elementary and middle school girls. The sessions usually take place on Penn’s campus, at Walnut Street West Library, or at their partner schools. They make an effort to plan unique activities that get kids to ask questions, be creative, and gain confidence as they learn!
