Discover family-friendly events with the Philadelphia Family Community Calendar. Our team adds fresh content every week to help you make the most of raising kids in Philly, from the baby and little ones-stage through the teen years and beyond! Please be sure to check with the host location about their health and safety protocols, as well as their registration requirements, prior to heading out!

This month the Wagner Institute’s theme is Foraging Frenzy! Check out our new mushroom display in the Exhibit Hall with dried specimens and papier-mâché mushroom models that date back to the 1800s. Get a lesson in mushrooms from The Philadelphia Mycology Club! And learn how to find the best mushrooms in the field and which ones to avoid, with fresh specimens to view.
They’ll have arts & crafts activities inspired by the foraging theme too. Make your own “spore print” or press and dry some flowers to take home!
As always, there will be scavenger hunts and activities for families with children. The Exhibit Hall will be open for self-guided tours of the natural history collection throughout the day. Explore their 100,000 natural history specimens, including ancient fossils, glowing minerals and animals from around the globe. The Wagner’s backyard will be also open for exploration with nature scavenger hunts and foraging games and activities!
Free admission to the museum and program; donations are encouraged!
