DESCRIPTION:Join the National Constitution Center for a joyful family celebration marking the opening of Be a Civic Hero!\, the Center’s first dedicated experience created especially for young children and their families. \nCreated in partnership with Playful Learning Landscapes and Watchdog Project Management\, the new free outdoor experience invites families to discover their civic strengths through play\, storytelling\, and shared exploration. \nCelebrate the opening with outdoor story time\, civic hero crafts\, cooperative lawn games\, and other playful activities for young children and their caregivers. Families can also be among the first to explore Be a Civic Hero!—creating their own civic heroes\, connecting constitutional principles to everyday life\, exploring the historic landmarks of Independence Mall\, and browsing children’s books in a new free little library. \nBe a Civic Hero!: A Family Celebration activities are free and open to all. A museum ticket is required to explore the National Constitution Center’s exhibits\, including Signers’ Hall\, and experience the Freedom Rising live performance. \nExplore Be a Civic Hero! \nBe among the first to experience the National Constitution Center’s new outdoor play experience for young children and families. SUMMARY:Brass & Wind Project Open House
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our FREE Open House to learn more about the Brass & Wind Project\, a program for students grades 3rd-6th who are interested in learning the musical skills essential to playing a band instrument. \nIn weekly large and small group classes\, fundamental skills will be taught\, allowing the student to thrive in a low-pressure and supportive environment. Skills taught include: \nBody awareness skills: breathing\, blowing\, posture and how to properly hold an instrument. \nExecutive & technical: embouchure formation\, finger control & dexterity\, and basic tone production. \nMusicianship skills: singing\, playing\, moving\, improvising\, creating music of all kinds\, and reading music notation alone and with others. \nThe skills learned will prepare them for participation in a traditional Band program and allow them to transition to playing a full-sized band instrument with relative ease. \nNo prior experience with instrumental music is required. Students are taught by a Master Teacher and supported by Temple University undergraduate music education and performance instrumental interns.
