Shark Summer: Adventure Aquarium Welcomes Baby Sharks (Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo)

This summer, live every week like it’s Shark Week!

Adventure Aquarium is bringing back Shark Summer—interactive programming celebrating all things shark— starting July 25 and running through September 2. There will be shark shows, shark swag, shark talks, and… baby sharks! So if your kids haven’t stopped singing “Baby Shark” for the better part of a year, this is clearly the place to be if you want to live every week like it’s Shark Week.

“We are excited to finally announce that we have baby sandbar sharks! Since this is such a rare occurrence for institutions similar to ours, we can’t wait to for our guests to see them themselves,” said Sara Frias, Director of Marketing and Sales at Adventure Aquarium. “With the all-new baby sandbar sharks, the largest collection of sharks on the East Coast, the only great hammerhead on exhibit in the United States, world’s longest Shark Bridge and more, Adventure Aquarium is the place to go for all things sharks this, this summer!”

For the first time ever, visitors will have access to behind-the-scenes of the aquarium’s Quarantine Building, which houses the new baby sandbar sharks and other animals. And you can also visit with Mommy Shark, Daddy Shark, Grandma and Grandpa Shark, and the whole gang throughout the aquarium. Here’s what else Adventure Aquarium has planned this summer.

Be Daring!

Dare to cross the Shark Bridge! Cross the longest V-shaped rope suspension bridge of its kind in the world, and walk just inches above the 21-foot deep Shark Realm exhibit and dozens of sand tiger, sandbar, blacktip, and nurse sharks swimming below.

Or walk through the fantastic Shark Tunnel, where you’ll be surrounded by sharks and get a 180-degree view of the Shark Realm. And if all that glass is too much distance for you, then you can safely touch some of the most exotic sharks in the world in the interactive Touch a Shark exhibit (or go touch one of the stingrays, shark’s closest cousins).

Learn about Sharks!

You can learn more about sharks during Shark Talks, where guests will get a chance to meet a shark expert and learn about the residents of Shark Realm, as well as ask shark-related questions. Then test your knowledge every day at 1 pm in the Ocean Realm with some Shark Trivia.

You can also see an Ocean Realm feeding at 3:30 pm every day, and even talk with the aquarium’s chef about how they feed their animals.

More Shark Fun!

Shark fin hats, shark tattoos, shark treats, shark dance parties—Shark Summer is going all out.  Kids can get a shark glitter tattoo or facepainting every day. The face painting staff will even spike up hair to make a shark fin Mohawk! And you’ll want to look your very sharky best for the shark dance party—every day, hang out with the aquarium’s shark mascot Gill and show off your best dance moves and learn other fun shark dances. Don’t miss getting a picture with Gill to commemorate the experience!

Then visit the shop for exclusive Baby Shark souvenirs, and hit up the café for special shark-themed treats!

And for an extra special giveaway, the first 400 guests on Monday, July 29 and Friday, August 2 will receive shark fin foam hats to celebrate Discovery’s Shark Week!

Shark Summer begins July 25 and runs through September 2 at Adventure Aquarium, located at 1 Riverside Drive in Camden, New Jersey. The experiences are included with general admission, which is $31.99 for ages 13 and up, and $23.99 for kids ages 2-12.
