2026 Revolutionary Germantown Festival

Journey to October of 1777 and encounter Germantown during the Battle of Germantown at the Revolutionary Germantown Festival, from 10 am to 4 pm, rain or shine! This annual free and family-friendly event is hosted at Cliveden – the epicenter of the 1777 Battle of Germantown – and invites visitors of all ages to a full day of immersive history, hands-on activities, and local food.
Throughout the day, visitors can:
– Interact with craftspeople and try their hand at candle dipping, paper making, flax making and basketweaving as well as watch the art of blacksmithing
– Engage with living history interpreters portraying British and Continental soldiers, witness a court-martial, and decide if you could be a soldier in 1777
– Take tours of the Chew House and speak with Elizabeth Oswald Chew about life during the British occupation of Philadelphia
– Watch a portrayal of General Washington returning General Howe’s dog after the Battle of Germantown and participate in memorial moments honoring lives lost in 1777 at 12 pm and victims of gun violence in 2026 at 3:45 pm
– Purchase freshly baked bread from Half Crown Bakehouse, pick up an Asher’s Chocolates commemorative chocolate bar, and enjoy food from local food vendors throughout the day
