The day before it opens to the public, Calder Gardens—Philadelphia’s newest cultural institution—will host a free public parade and live performances to celebrate its grand opening. The parade was conceived by acclaimed artist, composer, and musician Arto Lindsay, and will feature performances by the Sun Ra Arkestra, Pig Iron Theatre, Almanac Dance Circus Theatre, Mad Beatz Philly, and PHonk!
The Parade will run from 12:00 – 1:00 pm and will begin at LOVE Park, proceed down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, pass Swann Memorial Fountain and Calder Gardens, and conclude with a performance at Maja Park. Sun Ra Arkestra will then perform at Maja Park from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.
