Black History Month 2024: African Americans and the Arts

​The African American Museum in Philadelphia celebrates and commemorates Black History Month by exploring the theme of “African Americans and the Arts.” Offering inclusive programming for visitors of all ages and backgrounds, the exhibit aims to bring together diverse audiences in greater appreciation of the Black Experience.

The 2024 theme for Black History focuses on “African Americans and the Arts”. This theme illuminates how African American art is infused with African, Caribbean, and the Black American lived experiences. African American artists have used art to preserve history and community memory as well as for empowerment. Through this theme, the museum examines the varied history and life of African American arts and artisans.
