Nesting House Brings Sustainable Baby Gear & Community to South Philly

New parents in Philly can buy and sell gently used baby gear, and find community support and guidance at their new Queen Village location

Nesting House has been bringing sustainable baby gear to families in Mt. Airy since 2010. What started as an idea for a second-hand children’s clothing store has grown into a supportive hub for local families. This fall, Nesting House opens their second location in South Philly.

Welcome to Your Second Home in Queen Village

Nesting House’s new location is located along Fabric Row at 754 S. 4th Street in South Philadelphia. Owner Jennifer Kika said, “Queen Village is in the heart of a big city, but it’s also a close knit neighborhood full of growing families and is accessible to many downtown neighborhoods. We hope this location will serve many more families in their sustainable parenting efforts.”

Sustainable Baby Gear That Grows With Your Family

The staff is busy stocking the shelves with high quality new and used children’s goods. The new store offers the same range of products available at their Mt. Airy location. From strollers and wagons, to board games and boogie boards, Nesting House has products for all stages of life.

Nesting House accepts gently used children’s clothing sizes preemie to 12 years old. Shoppers can buy, sell, or trade everything from clothing and toys, to cribs and strollers. Parents can browse their spacious gear showroom with upscale items such as Nuna strollers, car seats, and high chairs.

Expert-Led Workshops and Learning Opportunities

For anyone interested in cloth diapers, Nesting House offers workshops to help get you started. Parents can learn the economic and environmental benefits of cloth diapers while exploring the different brands available in the store. They also offer babywearing workshops and trial periods to help parents find the most comfortable carrier option.

One of their most unique offerings is their baby registry. Their all-in-one universal registry allows you to add items from any store. Expecting parents can turn big ticket items into group gifts and add community funds for lactation or sleep consultations. The store offers expert guidance and checklists to help get you started.

Community Groups for Every Family

Parents and caregivers can participate in a variety of meet ups and support groups at the Nesting House. Their calendar is full of free weekly and monthly gatherings for a variety of family needs.

The free, new baby meetup happens every Wednesday from 10 am to 12 pm. The breastfeeding support group is hosted by the Breastfeeding Resource Center and offered on the 4th Tuesday of every month. The space also offers a support group for caregivers of neurodivergent children every first Thursday of the month.
