Childbirth and Parenting Classes at Pennsylvania Hospital

For a comprehensive class experience, Pennsylvania Hospital’s Parenting University offers both virtual and in-person classes for new and expectant parents. In particular, classes are led by specially qualified educators to help you learn everything you need to know about pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care. As a result, topics range from Childbirth Prep and Baby Care Basics to Becoming Grand (for the grandparents-to-be!), Beyond Birth, Beginning Breastfeeding, Infant Feeding, and more.

Healthy Start Program

The Healthy Start Program, by the City of Philadelphia, provides case management, home visiting, and health education to help women get the care they need to have healthy babies. As part of a national program, it works to address maternal and infant mortality, low birth weight, and racial disparities in perinatal outcomes. In addition, Healthy Start case managers and home visitors help families create personalized care plans, offering a wide range of services from preventative healthcare to mental health support for any parent in the home.

Maternity Care Coalition

Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) offers a variety of educational programs and classes to help mothers, birthing people, fathers, and families make informed, healthy, and compassionate decisions. In fact, they believe that a listening ear and a little help along the way can make a huge difference. As a result, their services and classes include Childcare, Community and Parenting Education, Community Doula and Lactation, Community Reproductive Health, Cribs for Kids, Safe Sleep Education, and more.

Philly Loves Families

Through the Division of Maternal, Child, and Family Health, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health offers Philly Loves Families, which is a program designed to connect residents with the services they need. Since every family’s journey is different, they provide support at every stage of parenthood, including Doula Support, Breastfeeding and Chestfeeding, Safe Sleep, and postpartum depression resources. In particular, Philly Families CAN stands out by bringing personalized in-home support directly to new parents, right when you need it most.

You Don’t Have to Navigate Parenthood Alone
