A Legacy of Caring
Dr. Orozco’s career path was inspired by her father, a general dentist whose family presence and approach to patient care has been a guiding light throughout her life. “He is my model for working hard, but also saving time for family and friends,” Dr. Orozco shares. “He’s always in the back of my mind as I make decisions in caring for patients.”
This influence is evident in Dr. Orozco’s approach to her practice. Jacob Orozco, Dr. Orozco’s husband and business partner, describes her as “smart, compassionate, patient, empathetic, and kind,” traits that are essential in pediatric dentistry but also reflect her deeper character.
Leading by Example
Dr. Orozco’s leadership style is characterized by quiet determination and a strong work ethic. “Never seeking the spotlight, she arrives to work early, stays late, comes in on her off days, and does it all with a quiet smile,” Jacob notes. Her ability to troubleshoot unexpected challenges, from uncooperative children to last-minute emergencies, with grace and poise is a testament to her professional skill and ingenuity.
Embracing Risk for Growth
One of Dr. Orozco’s most significant professional risks was leaving the comfort of a large group practice to open a private dental practice with her husband. “We were well-trained in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics, but we knew very little about the business side of a dental practice,” she recalls. “We started our practice from scratch, and it’s been amazing to watch it grow.”
This decision not only showcased her entrepreneurial spirit but also her commitment to creating a practice that aligns with her values and vision for patient care.
Balancing Professional and Personal Life
Dr. Orozco navigates her multiple roles – pediatric dentist, business owner, wife, and mother – with remarkable grace. Her ability to transition seamlessly between these responsibilities highlights her exceptional time management skills and her commitment to both her profession and her family.
Advocating for Women in Professional Fields
Dr. Orozco is passionate about improving conditions for women pursuing professional careers while starting families. She advocates for better support systems in professional schools for pregnant women and mothers of young children, recognizing the challenges many women face in balancing family planning with their career aspirations.
A Quiet Influence
While Dr. Abbey Orozco may not seek the spotlight, her impact on Top of the Hill Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry patients and staff as well as her community is profound. Her dedication to providing compassionate care, her willingness to go above and beyond for her patients, and her quiet leadership style make her a role model for aspiring dentists, women in business, and working mothers alike.
