Historic Philadelphia’s iconic Betsy Ross House welcomes visitors and Old City neighbors with a full calendar of events as the site recognizes and commemorates the 250th anniversary of the 1774 opening of Betsy’s upholstery business with a renewed focus on her craft. The annual National Flag Week commemoration, a weeklong celebration of all things Old Glory, takes place from Sunday, June 9 through Saturday, June 15 and offers a variety of free events and presentations highlighting the tradition and craftsmanship of flag making in the city of Philadelphia. On Flag Day, Friday, June 14, the Betsy Ross House welcomes new Americans during a moving, naturalization ceremony. Flag Fest culminates with an American Music Celebration featuring the Philadelphia Heritage Chorale, J. Donald Dumpson, and Friends.
