This year we’re celebrating the United States’ Semiquincentennial, which means Independence Day traditions are back bigger and better than ever. With celebratory events happening ALL week long, and an even longer weekend for many, we’ve got you covered with a full lineup of all the family friendly places to be.

Fireworks from the Battleship

June 27, 2026 at 7 pm and July 4, 2026 at 7 pm

Climb aboard the historic Battleship New Jersey for the Fourth of July this year! From the Main Deck you’ll enjoy the spectacular view of fireworks over the Delaware, with plenty of entertainment, food, and drinks beforehand.

Wawa Hoagie Day

Independence Mall, Philadelphia

In recognition of local heroes, Wawa is hosting its historic Hoagie Day on Independence Mall. Grab a free hoagie at noon and then catch a concert presented by the US Air Force Heritage of America Band. This is the perfect start to the July 4th festivities for all ages, who doesn’t want a free hoagie?

Red, White, and Blue To-Do

The Philadelphia Historic District celebrates July 4th with the Red, White, & Blue To-Do, featuring a patriotic parade, block party, and concert on Independence Mall. This year, the 250th Committee has extra exciting activities planned to recognize the semiquincentennial, don’t miss out!

38th Annual Liberty Medal Ceremony

Independence Mall, Philadelphia

July 3, 2026 from 11 am–12 pm

Join the community celebration of the liberty on the eve of the semiquincentennial as the National Constitution Center awards the annual Liberty Medal to Pope Leo XIV. The award recognizes the Pope’s dedication to promoting freedom of conscience and expression, the basic values praised by the founders and enshrined in the First Amendment of the Constitution. The first American Pope will deliver live acceptance remarks virtually from the Vatican.

Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade

Independence Hall to City Hall, Philadelphia

July 3, 2026 from 12 pm–4 pm

One of Philadelphia’s most beloved traditions returns bigger and more historic than ever. Join or watch the Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade as it travels on an exiting new, extended route through the city this summer. Starting at Independence Hall and continuing on Market Street past LOVE Park to Logan Circle, the parade will loop back around and end at City Hall on Broad Street.

The dazzling parade features 250 dynamic elements representing all 50 states and territories, including special appearances from all 52 Miss America titleholders. Honoring the original 13 colonies, 13 unique parade floats are prepared to delight all festival goers as historical and cultural showcases celebrate America’s past, present, and future.

Pops on Independence

Independence National Historical Park, Philadelphia

July 3, 2026 from 7 pm–9 pm

Calling all Frozen fans! Multi-platinum-selling singer/songwriter and Tony Award-winning entertainer Idina Menzel will be performing with the Philadelphia Pops at Independence Mall this July. Celebrate the birthday of the United States with the largest standalone Pops orchestra in the country in an evening of patriotic live orchestral music, favorite tunes, and festive cheer.

One Philly Unity Concert for America Fireworks Display

Philadelphia Museum of Art, Benjamin Franklin Parkway

July 4, 2026 from 5 pm-12 am

In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, join the festivities in the nation’s largest free concert! Hosted by Wanda Sykes, catch performances from other big names like Christina Aguilera, Will Smith, The Roots, Jill Scott, and more. This massive celebration will conclude with a dazzling display of fireworks over the Museum of Art at midnight.

Freedom Fest: Festival & Fireworks

Enjoy the July 4th Freedom Festival at Pleasant Hill Park, the second largest celebration in the city! Celebrate America’s independence with live music, delicious food vendors and a beer garden, ferris wheel rides, and (of course) spectacular fireworks. This year’s festival brings some new attractions, including a 40-foot Ferris Wheel and an exciting performance by Philly Heart & Soul.
