Greene Towne Montessori Empowers Parents Through Education

You're invited to explore Greene Towne Montessori School's Parent Education Workshops for the 2024-2025 school year.

Greene Towne Montessori School offers a robust Parent Education Workshop series not only for current parents but also for interested adults in the wider community.

Supporting Children’s Individual Needs

One standout event from the Fall 2023 Session was the screening of the short film “Blue,” followed by a moderated discussion and Q&A session featuring filmmaker Chelsea Hall and coach Coral Edwards. This workshop shed light on the often-overlooked issue of parental mental health, fostering open conversations about underutilized resources available to parents in need.

Other workshops featured in that session focused on parents supporting their child’s individual needs, like Preparation for Life: Emotions, Friendships, Impulses and “Help me to do it myself!”: Unpacking Independence. Recognizing the challenges families face during the transition to the school year, Greene Towne organized the workshop “Back to School = Big Changes!” This session, featuring child psychologist Dr. Lisa Dissinger and Montessori Director Emily Bittner, offered valuable insights and support for families adapting to the changes.

Exploring the Montessori Curriculum

For parents seeking a deeper understanding of the Montessori curriculum, the workshop Journey through Primary: A deeper dive into the Montessori Curriculum provided an insightful overview of the 3-6-year-old classroom. Hosted by Greene Towne’s Primary Lead teachers, the workshop offered valuable insights into the educational journey of young learners.

Looking Ahead: 2024-2025 Parent Education Series

Looking ahead to the 2024-2025 Parent Education Series, Greene Towne Montessori School continues its commitment to parental education. Workshops in the upcoming year will explore child development through play, examine child development through a Montessori lens, and with a workshop highlighting techniques for supporting children’s independence at home, mirroring those used by teachers at school.
