Fiber Fun for Artists of All Ages

The Kids’ Camp and Teen Studio will offer campers the opportunity to turn their creative ideas into real-life artworks. Some fiber art activities will include: screenprinting, weaving, embroidery, tie dyeing, and more!

Kids’ Camp

Tuft Ed Studio’s kids’ camp turns play into art! During each 5-day session, campers will learn how to weave, tie-dye, and screenprint on fabric. Each child will experience the magic of transforming plain materials into their own original creations.

Projects will vary week to week. Campers are welcome to sign up for more than one week and continue making. Kids’ camp is open to children ages 8-12.

Teen Studio

Tuft Ed Studio’s teen studio camp encourages imaginative and curious youth to build a cohesive art portfolio, filled with textile based designs. During each 4-day session, teens will learn how to embroider, tuft original rugs, and screenprint on fabric.

Projects will vary week to week. Teens are welcome to sign up for more than one week and expand their portfolio. Teen studio is open to youth ages 13-16.

Adult Workshops

Curious about tufting? Interested in learning more about fiber art techniques? Tuft Ed Studio offers an array of adult workshops at their new education space in the Bok Building. Continuing workshops include beginner rug tufting, advanced rug tufting, and traveling workshops (beginner rug tufting workshops outside of Philadelphia).

In the beginner tufting workshop, participants will learn to use tufting guns to create a rug or wall hanging. The class will cover the basics of setting up a tufting frame with stretched primary cloth and threading and operating tufting machines. Basic guidance for how to cut, glue, and finish a tufted piece will also be provided.

Already an experienced tufter? During the advanced tufting workshop, participants will learn finishing techniques to expand their basic tufting skills. The combined 10-hour class will include comprehensive instruction in cutting, gluing, and binding tufted rugs. Participants will also receive instruction in using finishing tools (carving clippers and electric carving scissors) to add dimension to their finished rugs.

Stayed tuned for listings of new workshops, including tufted projects, embroidery, crochet, and screenprinting.
