“My daughter began attending First Notes music classes when she was just 13 months old. After each class, she would come home and eagerly play with her shaker toys. As she grew older, she started tapping on the table and saying “ta-ta-ta-ta,” mimicking the rhythms she heard in class. Now at 18 months, Maia has become much more comfortable and confident. She stands, moves, and dances during class, copies movements without my help, and even sings along. Attending First Notes has not only instilled a love of music but has also helped build her confidence and supported Maia’s fine and gross motor development. At home, she dances freely, engages in pretend play, and uses her tiny fingers to carefully move small objects.”

“Our experience with Goldfish Swim School Mount Laurel has been excellent. The instructors create a fun, supportive environment where kids feel comfortable, gain confidence, and make real progress in the water. One of the managers Tyler has been especially helpful. My son was so nervous to start lessons but Tyler got down to his level and comforted him before his first class. She is always welcoming, responsive, and willing to answer questions or help however she can. Her leadership helps create a positive experience for families, and the school’s impact on building safer, more confident swimmers in the community! 10/10 recommend Goldfish Mount Laurel!”

“Heartwell has been a visitor as my daughter’s daycare over this past year and each time she comes it sparks a new love of yoga in our little learner. She speak kindly of herself and others, we practice family yoga all together with new stories or positions she learned. From all the visitors her school hosts Heartwell is the one she recalls the most and asks to see more of outside of school. Ms. Jana has a way of connecting with parents and children, showing them the importance if yoga and it’s benefits it can bring to the family routine. She leads with her heart and you can see her passion for what she does in every session she holds or new post she shares. she’s an advocate for the local small business community and improving the world around us in our community.”

“We’ve been a Mister John’s family since my seven-year-old was just four months. If we had to choose just 1 extracurricular for our family, Mister John’s would be it. It provides solid music education from nurturing, experienced teachers. After an entire summer of camp at MJM, our kiddo now walks around singing, composing at the piano, essentially finding music everywhere and relying on it as a support and a joy. Instead of the tortured “I’m bored!” eruptions, we hear a sweet piano melody. While all of that would be more than enough, Mister John’s is also about so much more. It’s a community of supportive chosen family, providing needed services like aftercare, trans jams, and date night babysitting. It’s a welcoming space, ready to celebrate everyone’s authentic self. Plus, it has an actual ADA complaint ramp (rare in Philly). Mister John’s Music is unfussy yet profound. Every activity is infused with joy, whether you’re a baby, child, teen, or grownup, whether you’re a musician or you just heard music on the radio once. Welcome home.”

“I am thrilled to nominate Kidz 4 Fitness for this award because of the tremendous positive impact they’ve had on my children and our entire family. One experience that stands out to me is how Rebecca, an incredible instructor at Kidz 4 Fitness, went above and beyond to help my children—both of whom had very different needs and abilities. My oldest child, who had always been shy and hesitant about trying new things, was struggling with self-esteem and team activities. Rebecca immediately noticed this and took the time to personally encourage her, gently guiding her through each session and offering positive reinforcement when she reached new milestones. Thanks to Rebecca’s kindness and patience, my daughter not only started to enjoy the classes, but she also began to look forward to them each week. At the same time, my younger child, who is more energetic but has some special needs, was having difficulty keeping up with the group. Rebecca recognized his unique challenges and tailored her approach to make sure he felt included and confident. Both of my children have made amazing progress, and it’s all thanks to Rebecca’s individualized attention and care.”

“We LOVE PPAC!! Our daughter has found a home here and we all couldn’t be happier. She takes singing lessons here and has done two summer theater camps and a fall theater program. She is all signed up for the winter Willy Wonka! It has a very family feel. When my daughter walks in, every worker knows her name, from the person at the front desk, to the tech person, to the owner. We had been in productions prior to here where there are 60 kids in a production and though the productions were great, our daughter has learned and grown more at PPAC in the past 8 months than she did in the years before. I can’t say enough great things about the place! I recommend to any family!”

“We discovered Spanish Workshop Preschool years ago and finally enrolled our third child—and we only wish we had started sooner with our older two. Even attending just one morning a week, the immersive classroom environment, her wonderful teacher, and the small class size have helped her gain confidence, vocabulary, comprehension, and a genuine excitement for Spanish. We have Spanish speakers in our family and visited them last year, and it was amazing to see how differently she listened, engaged, and confidently tried out her new words. “My name is Lucas Beltran. I am a 20-year-old Jazz singer and I attended Breaking The Barrier School of Music in Aston PA. I now perform on stages all across Philadelphia and New York City. As well as being on the TV show “The Voice” this past year. From my experience, I can wholeheartedly say that BTB has been a pillar in my artistic career. At 16 I began to take lessons there. My teacher there was Ms. Michele Ferdinand, a musical theater pianist and singer. She taught me the fundamentals of singing and music which have helped me find success in my musical journey. She helped me understand the importance of lyric, and how it affects an audience. Additionally, she always challenged me to learn different genres of music, which broadened my musical horizons. “
