Cozy Date Ideas for Fall and Winter
It’s time to plan a special kid-free night in the city with your partner.
As the weather gets chillier, it’s time to start thinking about cozy dates. Whether you and your partner love food, art, mini golf, or ice skating, there are plenty of events and destinations all across Philadelphia to offer you the perfect kid-free date night this fall and winter.
East Passyunk Avenue
Spend the evening on East Passyunk Avenue in Philadelphia sampling seasonal beers and specialty food at a wide variety of participating bars and restaurants. With each purchase, you’ll receive a stamp that can be used to enter a raffle with prizes from brewers and bars — perfect for future dates!
Philadelphia Magic Gardens, 1020 South Street
This is your last chance of the year to enjoy the Magic Gardens in twinkling evening light as part of their Twilight in the Gardens series. This month’s event will include a performance by the local Philly minimalist folk musician justmadnice, and a lantern craft led by educators from the Museum of the American Revolution. You’ll also have a chance to explore the PMG basement and view their current exhibition.
The Fabric Workshop and Museum, 1214 Arch Street
The Fabric Workshop and Museum recently is hosting an interactive workshop to celebrate their new exhibition “Rose B. Simpson: In the Dream House.” The founders of Dope Botanicals, a local apothecary, will teach participants about tea preparation and plant-based remedies during this relaxing evening which will also feature a print-making lesson.
Asian Arts Initiative, 1219 Vine Street
The Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival will be screening films and hosting performances and Q&As celebrating Asian and Pacific Islander stories. With in-person events occurring throughout the two weeks, you’ll be sure to find something to fit even into a busy schedule. There will also be livestream events if you would rather enjoy a cozy date night at home.
Wednesdays from November 30 – December 21
The neighborhood of Chestnut Hill will have extended store hours, holiday specials, complimentary refreshments, and even brass quartet performances every Wednesday night from Thanksgiving to Christmas along Germantown Avenue. Get a little holiday shopping in while on your date!
1600 W Girard Avenue
This adult-only indoor mini golf course/bar/Asian restaurant is perfect for a laid-back, fun-filled date night away from the kids. Proudly “hyper-local,” Libertee Grounds’ mini golf course is Philly-themed and its drinks are exclusively from regional breweries.
2230 Frankford Avenue
This independent bookstore and publisher in North Philly offers book lovers a dream date: the chance to privately browse their store for one and a half to two hours and enjoy dinner and a drink.
3510 Scotts Lane
For a more adventurous date, book a private lesson at East Falls Glassworks, where you and your partner will be paired with a professional glassblower to get a tour of the studio, learn about basic glassblowing techniques, and have a chance to make your own creations.
1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square
If you have the babysitter for long enough, it’s worth a trip out to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square. Enjoy the dazzling light installations by Bruce Munro on display through October, and then come back for the annual extravagant Christmas decorations later this year.
1 S 15th Street
Open from November 1 through next March, Dilworth Park will open its annual Wintergarden and hold its series of seasonal events. Enjoy cocktail nights, holiday shopping, and ice skating at this convenient location with something for every couple.
