Paddle Penn’s Landing…From Home!

Independence Seaport Museum invites you to have some creative fun at home, and win tickets to Paddle Penn's Landing!

Last Saturday was supposed to be opening day for this season of Paddle Penn’s Landing, one of the great Waterfront activities that signifies springtime to us. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, that has been postponed, along with everything else.

One day, we shall paddle again. But until then, the Independence Seaport Museum is inviting everyone to get creative with their highly adorable #PPLFromHome initiative. This is a fun activity to do while we’re quarantined at home with kids, plus you can even win tickets to the real deal! It’s a win-win!

Create scenes of your own Penn’s Landing using whatever materials you have at home– rubber duckies, egg cartons, LEGOs, the options are limitless! The museum had a little fun and sent over some of their own creations to inspire us.

Once the scene is complete, take and share a photo or video and tag @phillyseaport on Instagram or Twitter (or tag Independence Seaport Museum on Facebook), and use the hashtags #PPLfromHome and #MyPhillyWaterfront throughout the month of May for a chance to win free tickets to Paddle Penn’s Landing in person when it’s safe for them to re-open.

Tag #phillyfamily too, while you’re at it, because we can’t wait to see what you all come up with! Now get paddling (the bathtub, that is)!

Ali Stefanik, Assistant Director of Waterfront & Community Programs, explains the inspiration for the initiative: “Usually, for me, spring is filled with the joy people feel when they’re connecting with the Delaware through Paddle Penn’s Landing. I hope this project spreads similar little droplets of joy throughout our community while we all celebrate the River from home!”
