This summer, Wawa Welcome America celebrates freedom in Philadelphia with 16 days of free, family-friendly events and activities. This annual celebration honors Independence Day with spectacular fireworks, live concerts, parades, and festivals. This year is also especially significant as we’re celebrating the Semiquincentennial — the 250th anniversary of the United States!

Free Museum Days
Many of Philadelphia’s top museums open for free during the festival. Explore history and culture around the city at these museums and historical sites.
- June 19, 2026 10 am–5 pm: The African American Museum, exploring the history of African Americans in Philadelphia
- June 20, 2026 12 pm–4 pm: The Historic Rittenhouse Town located in Wissahickon Valley Park
- June 25, 2026 10 am–5 pm: The Independence Seaport Museum, showcasing Philadelphia’s maritime heritage
- June 26, 2026 10 am–5 pm: The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, the nation’s oldest natural history museum
- June 27, 2026 10:30 am–4 pm: The Laurel Hill Mansion, offering guided tours, lawn games, and activities for kids

Wawa Welcomes America Concerts and Performances
Music lovers can enjoy a lineup of free concerts.
The Dell Music Center is hosting its annual Celebration of Black Music Month show on June 25. This concert features performances to honor the excellence women in Black music.
Celebrate and learn about inclusivity at the Free Pride Concert and Celebration with the Philadelphia Orchestra on June 30. Held at the Kimmel Center, this show highlights unity and empowerment in the LGBTQ+ community. Be sure to check the list of additional concerts and make the most of the month!
Philly Parent Insider Tip: If you’ve got little ones, don’t miss Kidchella on June 26 at Smith Memorial Playground. Happening from 4 to 9 pm, this family event features kid-approved bands like The Bearded Ladies Cabaret. Also enjoy artsy activities, a fireworks show set to Kidz Bop tunes, and loads more. It’s a music, arts, and play festival just for kiddos.
Parades and Fireworks
On July 3, 2026, the Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade rolls out colorful floats representing all 50 states and territories. Get pumped with marching bands and performers celebrating American heritage. Honoring the 250th anniversary, this is the largest professionally produced Semiquincentennial celebration parade in the nation! The new, extended parade route heads down Market Street up to Logan Circle and concludes at City Hall.

Catch a dazzling fireworks show on the Delaware River waterfront on June 27, 2026 from 8 pm–10 pm, along with a free yacht rock concert. Fireworks are set to begin at 9:30 pm.
Block Parties and Festivals
Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and Independence Blue Cross present Philly Fair 250, a dynamic celebration of culture, history, and fun! Savor flavors from the original 13 colonies at themed food trucks while exploring the festival grounds in the Centennial District at Fairmount Park. Brave kids and parents can enjoy a new trapeze attraction and hot air balloon rides. Then chill out on the ground and explore interactive exhibits and creative workshops. With events planned from June 20–22, there’s something for everyone!
In honor of Juneteenth, a celebration of the end of slavery in the U.S., hang out at the Juneteenth Jubilee at the African American Museum on June 19. Enjoy live musical performances by Black artists, step into the new Jazz Tunnel for an escape from the heat, or hit up the PECO Kids Zone.
On June 27, don’t miss out on the celebration of culture, community, and tradition at Concilio’s Hispanic Fiesta in LOVE Park. Experience traditional Hispanic music and dance, delicious food, and family-friendly activities for all.
On July 2, 2026, gather with friends and family for the Red, White, & Blue To-Do celebration. It promises a day of “pomp and parade”. Enjoy vibrant displays of patriotic celebration such as bell ringings, museum and historic site openings, and the flag-raising ceremony with Betsy Ross. A parade featuring wagon floats, drill teams, dance troupes, and families will highlight the rich diversity of Philadelphia.
After celebrating in the Historic District, head down 3rd Street from 11am–2 pm. There, you’ll find the All American Block Party, including music, food, family-friendly activities, and more!
The evening will wrap up on Independence Mall with Wawa Welcome America’s Salute to Service: The United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus, hosted by Queen Latifah.
Wawa Hoagie Day
No festival is complete without food! Wawa Welcome America 2026 includes the beloved Hoagie Day on July 1, celebrating Wawa’s signature hoagies. Free hoagies get handed out at noon on Arch Street between 5th and 6th — right near Independence Mall. The National Constitution Center lets you in free all day, so it’s a great day to mix food and culture with the kids.
